Our Supportive Services

Anger Management
Anger is actually a normal human emotion. We all experience it from time to time. Unfortunately, it’s what we do with our anger that gets us into trouble. We can learn to handle our behavior in relationship to the anger that we feel. This takes work. But, can be fairly can easily accomplished. A lot of it is coming to an understanding of what our triggers are and then learning what to do with those triggers. Most people can resolves their anger issues with 6 to 8 weeks of one hour weekly sessions.

Relationship Challenges
Relationships actually do take work. In intimate relationships we all like to think that, “all you need is love”. Sorry, that’s not true. Love is an excellent foundation for an intimate relationship, but it isn’t what makes it work. The biggest challenge in relationships is communication…and that can be fairly easily worked through in 3 to 4 weekly sessions. Another major problem that I have come to see in relationships are the expectations we have going into any relationship. In intimate relationships, the parental role models that they were exposed to can have a significant impact on our relationship.. Again, a little bit of work this can be worked through.

Anxiety/Depression Work
Anxiety and depression are fairly common symptoms that we all experience from time to time over the span of our lifetime. We have finally come to realize that what we experience is mostly depressive moods, not actual depression requiring medication. And research has shown that, aside from severe depression, there are very simple ways to resolve lower levels of depression. Anxiety also is highly exaggerated to the degree that we forget that anxiety, in some respects, is what has kept us alive as a species. It’s called the “fight/flight response”. Again, this is something that can be worked on and brought under our control through understanding and techniques aimed specifically at the anxiety..

Management/
Workplace Issues
After having been in management in various settings for many years over my lifespan, I have come to realize that what exists currently in the job market is a lot of what I call “Piss Poor Management”. It’s unfortunate. Management can actually be a very rewarding position and can actually provide an excellent workplace experience for employees when done properly. There are many workshops and classes on the topic. For those of you in management, I would hope that you would avail yourself of these. If you’re an employee in a situation, like many people find themselves, where it’s an uncomfortable situation we can talk about it. If there is some actual abuse going on, then there are legal recourses that can be taken. Otherwise, a lot of times it can simply learning ways to work within the system to make it work for you.

Identity Concerns
Who am I and why am I? Very unique questions. And as a very famous person, Margaret Mead, once said, “We are all unique individuals, just like everyone else.” We tend to forget that we are indeed a mass of unique individuals with all our unique needs, values, desires, etc. Sometimes we have difficulties coming to terms with this because we live in a society/culture that perhaps makes demands of us that we’re not totally in alignment with. Again, with some therapy, one can come to an acceptance of who they are and learn ways within which one can survive and actually excel in the society or culture within which they live.

Chronic Health Problems
Personally, having multiple health concerns, I feel in the unique position to be able to help those who also have chronic health problems. I have also had periods where I have had chronic pain. And many people do not understand what it’s like either to experience pain or to be in a relationship with someone who has chronic pain. Sometimes it helps to talk to an objective third party. I will never forget the wife who sat in my office with her husband. She was always complaining about his fatigue. I looked at her and I said, “You obviously don’t realize that being in chronic pain is actually exhausting – I know I have chronic pain.” Her eyes were suddenly opened because an objective, neutral third party was telling her what her husband was trying to tell her.
